Individual, couple, and family therapy. Psychotherapy. Mental Health. Therapy. Counseling. Therapist. Counselor. Nashville, TN. Julianne Reed.

Julianne Reed, M.MFT

Creating change requires a willingness to be vulnerable and honest, both with ourselves and others. I believe my role as a therapist is to provide a balance of challenge and encouragement that allows my clients to feel empowered to be the catalyst for growth and change in their lives. My practice is grounded in the belief that every person is worthy of kindness and empathy, no matter what circumstances or choices have brought someone into my office.

I aim to provide a therapeutic space where my clients can be authentic, however emotional or messy that might look. It takes courage to face the darkest parts of our story, but by doing so, we get to challenge the ways these experiences have affected our view of ourselves, others, and the world around us.

I am so excited to work alongside my clients as they discover just how much strength they have.

Therapist Experience

Prior to my clinical work as a therapist, I spent several years working in a residential treatment facility for at-risk teens. I supported the clinical staff in their work to stabilize youth with severe issues of suicidality, depression, self-harm and other co-occurring health crises’. These adolescents touched my heart and greatly impacted my decision to move forward in the field and become a Marriage and Family Therapist.

Since beginning my own clinical work, I have spent time working with individuals, couples, and families of diverse socioeconomic status, cultures, and circumstances. This has included working with individuals who are transitioning out of incarceration and are managing issues with addiction, domestic violence, trauma, and re-entry. I have also worked within a high school setting serving teens ages 14-18 who have been impacted by severe life circumstances like parental incarceration or separation, addiction, mental illness, trauma, relational conflict, and other phase of life issues.

Therapy Interests

My training, experience, and research knowledge give me the confidence to work with any client issue in therapy (e.g., depression, anxiety, mood disorders, relationship issues, etc.).

I approach therapy with an integrative and evidence based lens. My work with clients incorporates aspects of cognitive-behavioral, narrative, emotionally focused, family systems, common factors, and strength-based interventions. I help my clients explore how their family of origin patterns, social experiences, and cultural influences have shaped their relationships and internal-world.

Through a compassionate and honest approach, my clients and I work to unravel the intricate threads of their internal world, helping them forge healthier connections and achieve their goals.
